2 weeks old!

Well, our girls are officially 2 weeks old...man time flies, but yet it seems so long ago that they were born! It's been an interesting but good couple of weeks. It's been amazing to watch them grow, develop, and improve over the days.

They've both had brief bouts with jaundice, but have overcome them quickly and gracefully. They've both surpassed their birth weight and continue to grow more and more every day. And once again they're both finally in open-cribs and maintaining their body temperatures. They're both strictly on breast milk and off IV fluids all together. They still have feeding tubes, but we're working on teaching them to eat on their own and both have been making some great progress in just the past couple of days!! Which is so nice because I was beginning to lose my gumption and drive to want to continue to try and nurse them. Anyway, here are some recent pictures of both girls...

Brooklyn, as of today (8/12), is 4 lbs 9 oz and 17 1/2 in long.

Emmalyn, as of today (8/12), is 4 lbs 8 oz and 17 1/2 in long.

The biggest hurdle for the girls right now is learning to eat on their own...as I said before, they've both made significant progress in just the past two days. It's quite the feat for someone so small-sucking, swallowing, and breathing all at once! We're hoping that once they get this concept down we'll be able to bring them home (crossing fingers). These girls are such a blessing to us already, I can only imagine how much more of a blessing they will be and the spirit they will bring to our home when they're here!

I'm so glad they are both doing so well! And just look at how fast little Emmalyn caught up to her sister in weight! They are dolls - let us know if you need anything!!

They are so sweet! I hope you're doing ok. It's hard to have your baby--well in your case babies-- in the hospital for so long. I'm glad they are doing so well! We'll be praying for you to go home soon.
